Alternative treatment for Stress


There are many factors which are responsible for stress. The best way to treat stress is to provide your body an adequate amount of nutrition. Stress is responsible for causing many healthy related problems such as heart disease, diabetes, headache and peptic ulcer. Other diseases resulting from stress are ulcerative colitis, chronic dyspepsia, asthma, psoriasis and sexual disorders.


Symptoms of stress:


The brain and nervous system become intensely active, the pupils of the eye dilate, digestion slows down, muscles become tense, the heart starts

pumping blood harder and faster, blood pressure increases , breathing become faster, hormones such as adrenaline are released into the system along with glucose from the liver and sweating starts.


Stress in its earlier and reversible stage:



- Poor sleep

- Bad tamper.

- Continual grumbling,

- Domestic conflict with spouse and children,

- Repeated minor sickness

- Accident proneness

- Feeling of frustration

- Increase in alcoholic intake.



Continuous stress may cause



- Dizziness

- Stiffness of muscles

- Headache

- Vision problems

- Difficulty in breathing.

- Asthma

- Allergies

- Palpitation

- Digestive disorders

- Bowel disorders.

- Blood sugar irregularities

- Skin disorder.

- Sexual difficulties



Causes of stress



Stress is caused by many factors.



External factors

- Loud noises

- Blinding lights

- Extreme heat or cold

- X-rays or other forms of radiation,

- Drugs

- Chemicals

- Toxins or bacteria.

- Inadequate nutrition.



Internal factors

Factors from within the body include feelings hate, envy, fear or jealousy.



Alternative treatment for stress


In order to treat your stress – take your first step by making your lifestyle and diet menu healthy and well balanced. Try to adopt an optimum diet which should be able to meet the nutritional demands of stress. This type of diet is the combination of

- Seeds, nuts and grains

- Vegetables

- Fruits



In order to supplement these foods, try to add some more healthy building foods such as vegetable oils and honey.


Add in to your stress diet menu and use regularly:-



Yogurt:



- Good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin B and vitamin D.

- It helps relieve symptoms like insomnia, migraine and cramps associated with menstruation.



Blackstrap:



- Good source of iron and vitamin B.

- It guards against anemia and is good for heart diseases.



Seeds and sprouts:


- Seeds such as alfalfa, sunflower, and pumpkin and sprouts are rich in calcium and quite effective as deterrents of listlessness and anxiety.

- Try to chew 12 leaves of holy basil (tulsi) 2 times a day. It is an effective remedy for stress. Tulsi leaves are loaded with anti-stress properties.

- Try to include foods like cashews, green leafy vegetables, yeast, sprouts and bananas.

- Pantothenic acid is also important in preventing stress because it has a deep effect on the adrenal glands and the immune system and adequate amount of this vitamin along with vitamin A can help prevent many of the changes caused by stress.

- Take sufficient amount of potassium by including nuts and unrefined grains in to your diet menu.

- Calcium is a natural sedative. Deficiencies can cause fatigue ,nervousness and tension. Dairy products, eggs, almonds, and soyabeans are rich sources of calcium.

- Magnesium also known as nature’s tranquilizer that helps prevent heart troubles like heart attack. Try to include fruits, vegetables, seeds, dates and prunes.



Avoid:-

- Smoking.

- Caffeine.

- Alcohol.



Stress and Exercises:



- Try to make a regular excurse plan because exercise is very important for reliving stress and its related symptoms naturally.

- Jog, run, walk or play games, what ever you like – BUT be regular.



Yoga as an alternative treatment for stress:



Practice:-



Yogasanas - pavanmuktasana, sarvagasana, halasana, ardhamatsyendrasana, bhujangasana, dhanurasana, yogamudra ,padmasana, trikonasana.



Yogkriyas - kunjal and jalneti.



Andpranayamas - kapal bhati, anuloma- viloam, sitali , sitkari and bhramari.
