Alternative treatment for jaundice


Jaundice is one of the most common liver disorders marked by yellow discoloration of the skin and the whites of the eyes, which results from an obstruction in the bile duct, or the loss of function of the bile-producing liver cells.



Symptoms of jaundice


- Extreme weakness

- Headache

- Fever

- Loss of appetite

- Fatigue

- Severe constipation

- Nausea

- Yellow coloration of the eyes, tongue, skin and urine.



The jaundice sufferer may also feel a dull pain in liver region.



Causes of jaundice



- An obstruction of bile duct due to gall stones or inflammation of the liver.

- Contamination of food and water.

- Pernicious anemia

- Certain disease affecting the liver such as typhoid, malaria, yellow fever and tuberculosis.


Alternative treatment for jaundice


- The first treatment for jaundice is an adequate until the acute symptoms of the disease subside.

- Then, start a juice fasting by including juices like lemon, grapes, pear, carrot, beet, and sugarcane in to your juice diet menu.

- All types of fats such as butter, cream and oils must be avoided for at least 2 weeks. Avoid foods such as pulses and legumes.

- Juice of bitter luffa is used in the alternative treatment for jaundice. This juice is obtained by pounding and squeezing through cloth.

- The juice should be placed on the palm of the hand and drawn up through the nostrils. This will cause a profuse overflow of the yellow colored fluid through the nostrils. The toxic matter having been evacuated in a considerable quantity, the patient will feel relieved.

- It is a strong ayurvedic medicine and can cause various side effects. In case you are sensitive. The side effects may include giddiness, migraine and high fever for a short duration. Its use should, therefore, be avoided by such patients.

- Use can also use substitute of the green luffa juice by soaking its dry crust in water for overnight.

- Another effective treatment for jaundice is - Green radish leaves. Try to extract 1 pound juice from radish leaves. Drink it daily, in order to induce a healthy appetite and proper evacuation of bowels, and this resultsin gradual decrease of the trouble. In most cases a complete cure can be ensured within 8 to 10 days.


Water as an alternative treatment for Jaundice:


- Drink plenty of water by mixing juice of lemon in it.

- Alternate hot and cold compresses should be applied to the abdomen.

Hot compress for one minute at 120 o F

Cold compress for few minutes at 60 o F

- Hot immersion bath at 104 o F for 10 minutes daily is also beneficial in relieving the itching.

- Cold friction twice a day will be beneficial for general tone-up.



Yoga as an alternative treatment for jaundice:


Practice



Yogasanas - uthanpadasana, bhujangasana, viparitkarani and shavasana.

And anuloma-viloma, pranayama will be helpful in the treatment of jaundice.
