Alternative treatment for whooping cough

Whooping cough also known as pertussis, , is a contagious disease. The most common suffers are infants and children up to 12 years. Unlike some other diseases, a new born baby has no immunity to this disease, and can get it any time after birth.


Symptoms of whooping cough

There are many symptoms of whooping cough, some common symptoms are:


- Cough

- Deep breathing with croaking sound which is called a whoop.

- Sticky secretion from nose and mouth and very often vomits.

Children those who are immunized, the disease is mild and atypical. On the other hand , many children sufferers from lung complications such as collapse of a part of the lung are common because of the thick sticky nature of the secretions blocking the passage of air to a part of the lung. Secondary infection may result in pneumonia.


Alternative treatment for whooping cough


- In the beginning of the alternative treatment for whooping cough, the child should be placed on a fast of orange juice and water for few days.

- Give your child an equal quantity of orange juice diluted with water.

- Avoid giving milk or anything else.

- He should be given warm water enema daily during this period to cleanse the bowels. In case of constipation, a mild laxative, preferably castor oil, should be administered.

- Apply cold packs to the throat and upper chest as required.

- Bath of Epsom salt is also beneficial.

- After the more sever symptoms have cleared, give your child an exclusive diet of fresh fruits for a few days. Try to include fruits such as apple, orange, pineapple and papaya.

- After completing diet regimen given above, he can adopt a regular well-balanced diet, of fresh fruit, fruit and vegetable juices and milk.

When the convalescent stage has been reached, the child should be encouraged to spend as much time as possible out of doors.

- Garlic is very effective in the treatment of whooping cough. Try to give your child a syrup of garlic in the dosage of 5 drops to a tablespoon 2 or 3 times a day.

- Another effective remedy for whooping cough is ginger. A teaspoon of fresh ginger juice, mixed with a cup of fenugreek decoction and honey to taste, is an excellent expectorant.

- Make a syrup by mixing 1 teaspoon fresh radish + 1 teaspoon honey and a little rock salt. It should be given thrice daily.

- Another effective alternative treatment or whooping cough is the mixture of almond oil + 10 drops fresh white onion juice + 10 drops ginger juice, daily thrice for a fortnight . It will give relief.
