- The safest alternative treatment for acute nephritis is juice fasting. Therefore, try to adopt a juice fasting for 7 to 10 days till the acute symptoms subside.

Carrot, celery and cucumber should be used during this period.

- After the juice fasting, try to adopt an all-fruit diet for 5 to 6 days by including juicy fruits such as apples, grapes, oranges, pears, peaches and pineapples.

- After the all-fruit diet, adopt fruits and milk diet. In this regimen, milk, preferably raw goat’s milk, may be added to the fruit diet for further seven days.

- Now, make a well- balanced low protein vegetarian diet menu by including fresh fruits and cooked vegetables.

- If you are suffering from chronic nephritis, a short juice fast for 3 days may be undertaken. Thereafter, a week or 10 days may be spent on a restricted diet. In this regimen,

Breakfast: oranges or orange juice.

Lunch: Salad of raw seasonal vegetables

Dinner: one or two vegetables, steamed in their own juices and a few nuts.

- After completing this regimen you can now adopt a well- balanced low protein vegetarian diet.

- Further short juice fasts followed by a week on the restricted diet should be undertaken at intervals of 2 to 3 months until such time as the kidney condition has shown signs of normalization.

- Avoid eating oxalic acid containing vegetables such as spinach and rhubarb also avoid chocolate and cocoa.

- Garlic, asparagus, parsley, watercress, cucumber and celery are excellent vegetables and can be used freely in the alternative treatment for nephritis.

- Papaya and bananas are loaded with kidney healing properties.

- Try to include a small amount of soured milk and home- made cottage cheese in to your diet.

- Eat small meals rather that eating 2 large meals.

- An effective home remedy for nephritis is the mixture of a glassful of carrot juice mixed with tablespoonful of honey and a teaspoonful of fresh lime juice. It should be taken every day early in the morning before breakfast.

- For effective treatment a diet of bananas only should be taken for three or four days, consuming eight to nine bananas a day.

- Avoid smoking and alcohol for your good.

- Eliminate white bread, sugar, cakes, pastries, puddings, refined cereals, greasy, heavy or fried foods, tea, coffee, all flesh foods, condiments, pickles, and sauces for your diet menu.

- If the treatment given above is faithfully carried out, the patient of acute nephritis should soon be on the way to recovery . Even in advanced cases of chronic nephritis, the sufferer’s condition should improve with this treatment.
