Alternative treatment for anemia

Anemia – According to alternative treatment anemia is lack of blood or decrease in RBC (red blood cells) count, mainly caused by refined foods consumption. Blood is a living tissue which consists of red blood cells which carry oxygen to the different tissues in the body.


Raw material required for the production of RBC:

- Iron

- Protein

- Vitamins

- Folic acid and vitamin B12

In order to produce hemoglobin a protein and iron rich diet is required because hemoglobin is made up of heme – an organic iron compound and globin - a sulphur bearing protein which makes up 96 percent of the molecule.

The average lifespan of Red blood cells is approximately 120 days but these RBC’s are destroyed and replaced daily. The decrease in hemoglobin content results in anemia.

Symptoms of anemia:

Here are some common symptoms of anemia:

- Poor memory

- Lack of energy

- Premature skin wrinkles

- Grayish skin

- Dull looks

- Fatigue

- Weakness

- Dizziness

- Shortness of breath on exertion

- Depression

- Headache

- Slow healing of wounds

- Pale fingers, lips and ear lobes..


Causes of anemia:

Here are some causes of anemia:

- Low red blood cells formation

- Poor diet – lack of iron, vitamins and protein

- Bone marrow defects

- Heavy blood loss due to injury or due to menstruation cycle or another reason such as bleeding piles

- Stress, worry and emotional strain

- Tuberculosis, when accompanied by hemorrhage, may

also result in anemia

- Intestinal parasites such as pinworms, hook worms, tapeworms and round worms because these worms usually feeds on the blood supply as well as on the vitamins.



Alternative treatment for anemia:-

- Garlic, fresh papaya and grated carrot helps prevents some types of intestinal parasites. But, after successful treatment for intestinal worms, you are advices to follow perfect cleanliness rules in order to prevent recurrence.

- We all know that prevention is better than cure. Therefore, a liberal intake of iron in the formative years can go a long way in preventing iron-deficiency anemia.

- Make a healthy diet menu because diet is of the utmost importance in the treatment of anemia. Include iron rich foods in to your diet menu. But, avoid intake of iron in its inorganic form as, inorganic form of iron can be hazardous to your health and may results in serious health problems such as liver damage, premature birth etc. Therefore, try to use iron in its natural or organic form. Some common iron rich foods are wheat and wheat grain cereals, brown rice and rice polishings, beets, cabbage, green leafy vegetables, spinach, carrot, celery, tomatoes, fruits such as apples, grapes, figs, dates, berries, cherries, raisins, peaches and eggs.

- Iron alone cannot be of any use therefore, increase your protein intake too. As, hemoglobin is made up of iron and protein.

- Include protein rich foods in to your diet menu such as milk, cheese and egg.

- Copper is also essential for the proper utilization of iron in the building of hemoglobin.

- Vitamin B12 is also important for preventing or curing anemia. Sources of vitamin B12 are organic meats like liver and kidney. Alternative sources of vitamin B12 are eggs, cheese, peanuts, milk, wheat germ and soybeans.

- Include ascorbic acid in to your diet, it is necessary to facilitate absorption of iron.

- Beet juice is very beneficial in anemia cure because beet juice is fully loaded with calcium, sulpher, iron, copper, potassium, phosphorous, carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, B1, B2, niacin B6, C and vitamin P. With its high iron content, beet juice regenerates and reactivates the red blood cells, supplies the body with fresh oxygen and helps the normal function of vesicular breathing.

Alternative Water Treatment for Anemia:-

- Take a cold water bath 2 times a day. This treatment is the best alternative treatment for anemia.

- Cold friction, hot Epsom salt bath for 5 to10 minutes once a week and an occasional cabinet steam bath are also recommended.

- Sun bah is also beneficial in anemia treatment as, sun light stimulates the production of red cells.

- Go for deep breathing and light exercises regularly.


Yoga as an alternative treatment for anemia:-


Practice yogasanas such as uttanpadasana, sarvangasana, shavasana and paschomittanasana.
